ENVIRONMENTAL MATS Environmental carpet
As part of an ecological approach, every racer or motorcycle owner taking part in a competition is obliged to use an environmental mat. Its mission is to prevent the discharge of polluting fluids into the environment. Tonnycat offers numerous models to meet the needs of the most demanding users.
Who needs a motorcycle environmental mat?
Environmental mats are essential for motorcycle owners and those who work on them. It's essential for garages wishing to protect their floors from oil and fuel stains.
The same goes for owners who don't want to soil their workshop or floor with impurities that fall from the vehicle or get caught on the wheels.
During the winter, the pit mat keeps the wheels dry. It also prevents them from coming into direct contact with the ground, ensuring even wear.
At showrooms, absorbent motorcycle mats are a practical and aesthetic way of showcasing vehicles.
When is the use of an environmental mat mandatory?
Under penalty of fine, the use of a motorcycle absorbent mat is compulsory during the competitions in which you take part. It must be placed in the parc fermé, in the stand box or in the paddock. This applies to both internal combustion and electric motorcycles.
Its primary mission is to absorb liquids (water, mud, hydrocarbons, lubricants, coolant, brake fluid, etc.) so they don't contaminate the ground or the water table. The motorcycle pit mat also protects the paddock floor from being soiled by tires. It also catches all the elements that may fall onto the vehicle during work: parts, pollutant particles and dust.
During championships, this mat is also placed under oil containers, near refuelling points and in any area where a liquid leak could occur: car wash, generator, etc.
What is a motorcycle environmental mat made of?
The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (International Motorcycling Federation) ensures that every competition it organizes is respectful of biodiversity. To this end, it has laid down standards governing environmental mats.
Environmental mats are made up of a top layer, generally in polyester or acrylic polyamide, with an absorption capacity of at least 1 liter per square meter, and a thick waterproof layer, often in rubber or PVC. It must be at least 5 mm thick.
Each owner must ensure that the dimensions of the mat are sufficient to accommodate the entire vehicle. The FIM has defined the following minimum dimensions: 160 x 100 cm for motorcycles alone and 160 x 200 cm for sidecars.
Choose quality mats
Tonnycat sells approved, waterproof mats that can absorb a good quantity of liquids. They are also robust and last for many years, even under heavy use. And they're practical too, as they can be pressure-washed at a temperature of around 30°C.
What's more, every one of our absorbent motorcycle mats is slip-resistant, so you can deploy it on any surface. Some products are protected by an anti-UV coating to prevent fading and premature deterioration.
Other criteria may also be important for some users. The fireproof option, for example, is reassuring, as it allows you to repair your machine in complete safety.
To ensure you find a model to suit your tastes, our mats are available in a wide choice of colors, sizes and prints. You can also choose from several brands, including Twin Air, Moose Racing and Hallman.
