Stand
The motorcycle stand is an essential device for keeping the motorcycle upright when stationary. There are several types of motorcycle stand, each adapted to specific situations. Here are the main types of motorcycle stands:
Side stand: Also called side stand or parking stand, this is the most common stand. It is attached to the right-hand side of the motorcycle and can be deployed to keep the bike upright when stationary. It is generally used for prolonged parking.
Center stand: Some motorcycle models, particularly larger bikes and touring bikes, are equipped with a center stand in addition to the side stand. The center stand is generally used for maintenance operations or prolonged parking.
Rear Stand: Used mainly on off-road or sport bikes, the rear stand is used to lift the rear of the motorcycle. It is often used for quick interventions or to facilitate maintenance of the rear wheel.
Front Stand: Less common than the rear stand, the front stand is used to lift the front of the motorcycle. It can be used to facilitate access to the front wheel or for maintenance operations.
Race or Paddock Stand: Used on racetracks, the race stand is designed to allow rapid lifting of the motorcycle's rear wheel, often used for tire-changing operations or to work on the motorcycle in the pits.
It's important to note that use of the side stand is generally recommended for regular parking of the motorcycle, while center, front stand or rear stand stands are often used for maintenance and repair activities. Knowing the type of stand fitted to your motorcycle, and using it correctly, is essential to ensure the motorcycle's stability and safety when stationary.
